The Exploring Lab series proudly presents a 1/48 model of Shinkai 6500. This manned research submersible that can dive up to a depth of 6500 m and was completed in 1990 by the Japanese company JAMSTEC and has the greatest depth range of any manned research vehicle in the world. This 1/48 scale model recreates all the detail and mechanisms found in this deep sea vessel right down to detailed interior of the pressure hull. The underwater projector and the light in the pressure hull are recreated with LEDs that can be switched on and off. Its two manipulators and the sample bucket joint are movable while the main propulsor can be swung from side to side. The screw is recreated by a rotary installation structure. The ballast on the ship bottom is detachable. Includes five figures and an exclusive stand. Ages 15+.
