This is Grandpa Beck, and it’s my pleasure to introduce you to Cover Your Assets, a game developed by my wife, our family, and myself around our kitchen table. We hope you enjoy playing it as much as we’ve enjoyed developing it. In Cover Your Assets you amass a fortune by collecting and building an alternating tower of matching pairs of asset cards. You’ve got to be careful though, because the top set of assets on your stack can be stolen by other players if they hold a matching asset or a gold or silver wild card. Every time a stack is stolen it increases in value, making it a more enticing target to steal and harder to hold onto. The best way to protect a valuable set it to cover those assets with a new set of assets. You literally Cover Your Assets. See what we did there?
This game is fast-paced, competitive, and a more than a little addictive. Will it teach you to be wise with your financial decisions in life, or how to be a savvy investor? Absolutely not. Will it cause bouts of laughter, good-humored competition, and fun-filled gatherings? We certainly hope so. It’s quite difficult to explain why it’s such a riot to play, but let me try. It’s like a combination of a white elephant gift exchange, an estate sale, and Robin Hood (because you steal from the rich and give it to yourself… wait, that’s not like Robin Hood at all… oh well, hopefully you get the point). Your fortune can be made, or lost, in just a few turns. You’re never out of the game until the last card is played. Bottom line, it’s a terrific game that will be loved by everyone you share it with. A game that you will want to play again, and again, and again. Try it, we know you’ll enjoy it – that is, as long as you are a person who enjoys fun (we can’t promise tax accountants will like it).
