Kids of All Ages Love Whistle Stop

Family-owned and operated Whistle Stop Hobby & Toy in St. Clair Shores celebrates 52 years in the community this month and with it, the honor of being voted the best toy shop around.

The outgoing and friendly staff go the extra mile for customers, co-owner Julie Everitt said, helping guests find the right gifts for the right age group and price point.

"We want to spoil our customers," she added. "We go the extra mile and help them shop and find what they really want."

Free gift wrapping is a bonus for shoppers at Whistle Stop, which also offers curbside pickup for customers who don't want to come inside. Additionally, staff will help customers shop via phone, through texts and photos.

"People have so much on their plate," Everitt said. "Keeping it easy for them is key here."

Having that connection with customers is a priority at Whistle Stop, where guests are treated as family.

"It's important for us, because they give us feedback," Everitt said. "When we have that connection, they're very honest with us about what we could do better or about a product their kids are looking to get. To be successful, I have to know their needs. And it's important to them, because they have to feel comfortable in our store. We want them to come in."

Whistle Stop has a welcoming atmosphere that beckons children and parents alike. A wonderland of choices awaits the young and young at heart. The No. 1 best-seller these days is the always popular
LEGO, Everitt said.

"It's amazing that LEGOs have really transformed into a hobby for all ages," she added. A classic, LEGOs have been a staple for kids across generations.

Whistle Stop has a variety of upcoming events through the end of the year. Details are available at whistle-stop.com.

Additionally, Everitt plans to offer personal shopping help to customers during the holidays. It's the sort of service one can expect from the area's "Best Toy Shop."

"Thank you, from my entire Claggett family," Everitt said of the honor. "It's an honor people shop here and support us. We couldn't do it without this community. This community is the heartbeat of our store."
